Our Mission: Believing that every child deserves a safe and supportive place to grow, Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) of Greater Las Vegas creates and supports programs that directly improve the health, education and well-being of children in our community. The Ronald McDonald House® is the cornerstone program of RMHC, and provides temporary housing for families who travel to Las Vegas to receive critical medical treatment for their children.
A “Home Away From Home”
The best medicine for a child is having mom and dad at their side. As the only facility of its kind in Las Vegas, the House makes this possible by enabling families to be within moments of their child’s hospital bedside.
Since opening in July of 1998, the House has served 1,832 families for a total of 23,850 nights. The average length of stay is 10 days, and in 2007, the house was 81% occupied.

A Community Resource for Children
RMHC of Greater Las Vegas also works to better the lives of children and their families in Southern Nevada through several local community programs:
- Ronald McDonald® Care Mobile
In partnership with Nevada Health Center’s Miles for Smiles, RMHC launched a state-of-the-art mobile dental unit in 2005 to provide access to dental care for underserved children in five rural counties in Nevada. To date, the program has served 1,474 children.
- Camp Success
RMHC hosts a summer camp program for children who normally wouldn’t have the opportunity to experience the joys of camp. Since the program began in 2005, Camp Success has taken over 250 children from the Greater Las Vegas area to camp.
- "Lunch is on us" Hospital Lunch Program
RMHC delivers sack lunches to families staying with their children at local hospitals. Since the program began in 2004, volunteers have prepared and delivered over 45,000 lunches to families and have brought stuffed animals, toys and games for the children staying at University Medical Center and Sunrise Children’s Hospital. In 2008, volunteers will prepare over 28,000 lunches – that’s 550 lunches each week!
- Scholarships
In 2008, RMHC awarded over $229,000 in scholarships to 78 local high school seniors and over $25,000 in alumni scholarships to returning students. Since the program began in 1999, over $1.6 million has been awarded to 787 local students.
- Volunteering
Volunteers log an average of 400 hours per month at the Las Vegas House, making it possible for us to operate our many programs. RMHC volunteers assist our staff with housework, office support, fundraising and program activities, as well as public awareness efforts. Opportunities are available for groups, youth and senior citizens.
Local Event Fundraising
RMHC of Greater Las Vegas is a 501(c) 3 non-profit organization that receives 100% of its funding through local fundraising efforts and private donations – and all monies raised by RMHC of Greater Las Vegas stay right here in the community. The following fundraising events are scheduled in 2008:
Ongoing Fundraising Programs
- Share-A-Night
As part of our commitment to support families in need, the Ronald McDonald House serves any family with a seriously ill child, regardless of their ability to pay. The Share-A-Night program makes this possible by helping families who can’t afford our $10 a night donation. For every $10, your donation makes it possible for a family to stay at the Las Vegas Ronald McDonald House worry-free for one night.
- Donor Wall
Become a permanent part of the Ronald McDonald House. Send a message of strength and hope to Ronald McDonald House® families by reserving a personalized tile engraved with your name, company name, or an acknowledgement of a special person.
- Pop Tabs
The little, seemingly insignificant tab you pull to open your aluminum cans is like gold to the Ronald McDonald House. We collect these pop tabs, recycle them, and the proceeds go directly to Ronald McDonald House families. When a family needs assistance with travel costs, clothing and hygiene items, or the costs associated with the death of a child, our Pop Tab funds are there to help.
Anyone and everyone can collect pop tabs. It’s easy, fun, and a great project for schools and community groups.
