Annual Food Drive at Smith’s

On Saturday, February 6th, all Smith’s Food & Drug Stores in the Las Vegas area will open their doors to the Ronald McDonald House® for the 10th Annual Food Drive.

Volunteers will hand shoppers the Ronald McDonald House Wish List and encourage them to pick up a few items as they shop. The donated items are then delivered to the Ronald McDonald House, where they are sorted and stored.

Last year’s food drive generated over $10,000 in cash donations and stocked the shelves with enough food, paper products, and cleaning supplies to last the entire year. The food drive commemorates National Food Check Out Day, which is recognized by the Farm Bureau Association as the day of the year when the average American family has earned enough income to pay for their yearly food supply. This is the tenth year Smith’s will host the food drive for the Ronald McDonald House of Greater Las Vegas.

How you can help...
We’re looking for volunteers to help facilitate the food drive at Smith’s locations throughout the city. As a volunteer, you will pass out the RMHC wish list as shoppers enter the store and collect donations as they leave. The food drive is scheduled from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM on Saturday, February 6, 2010. You will be asked to arrive at your location by 8:45 AM to set-up. Afterwards, all volunteers are invited back to the Ronald McDonald House for a celebratory meal. Please contact Katherine Petersen at (702) 340-4400 or email katherine@rmhlv.com to sign up.

For every "Hashtastic" sold in February, over $20 will be donated to Ronald McDonald House Charities(r) of Greater Las Vegas. Visit Hash House A Go Go at 6800 West Sahara Avenue or inside the Imperial Palace and purchase the Hashtastic for $12.95.


The Hashtasic was created by Michael and Christopher Karo with Chef Anthony of Hash House A Go Go, and includes Flank steak, fresh mushrooms, fresh asparagus, artichoke hearts, charred tomato, & mozzarella cheese tossed with crispy potatoes & topped w/ 2 eggs.
