Runnin' for the House 2010 was a great success, thanks to the outpouring of support from the Las Vegas community, raising $40,000 and attracting over 900 registered participants! 100% of the funds raised from this event will stay in Las Vegas local to support Ronald McDonald House Charities of Greater Las Vegas (RMHC). We would like to thank all of the sponsors, donors and participants who supported Runnin’ for the House 2010, especially our presenting sponsor, McDonald’s of Greater Las Vegas, for their generous support of the event and pancake breakfast.

Event Recap
The morning started early so we could beat the heat! The Nellis Honor Guard presented the colors while the National Anthem was sung by Leah Thomas. Ronald McDonald himself was on hand to get the runners stretched and ready to race! At 7am 5k runners and 1mile walkers gathered at the starting line near the Ronald McDonald House. Not only did local families, running groups, and companies support the race, but over 20 runners from across the country came to Las Vegas to participate. Over 100 children from CP Squires Elementary school showed up to go Runnin’ for the House, thanks to a sponsorship from CenturyLink. The excitement on the children’s faces as they crossed the finish line and looked at their time could only be matched by the wide grins coming from the parents and teachers cheering them on.

As the finishers cooled down and meandered towards the House, they were welcomed with a free pancake breakfast, complete with McDonald’s sausage patties, pancakes and fresh fruit. The Ronald McDonald Care Mobile, which provides free dental care to families in rural Nevada, was open for viewing, and volunteers gave guided tours of the Ronald McDonald House. There were many activities for families and children, including face painting, balloon art, interactive learning booths and Ronald McDonald, Grimace and Hanburgler were on hand to take pictures.

Chet Buchanan from 98.5 KLUC and Ronald McDonald teamed up one more time to raffle off prizes and present awards. Cheers and “awwws” came from the crowd as the winning numbers were called out and prizes given away. Awards were handed out to the top three male and female finishers in 9 age categories. Each winner was anointed by Ronald McDonald as he placed the medal around their neck and posed for a hard-earned picture. The overall male winner was Devin Mancuso from Las Vegas with a time of 16:47 while Betty Cook of Henderson, NV finished in 21:16 to win the female division.
