This program allows us the opportunity to say to these young adults, "we believe in you and your future." We know that a number of these students wouldn't have the chance to go to college if it weren't for the support they're receiving from these scholarships.

- Eva Martin, Past Board President of RMHC of Greater Las Vegas and local McDonald's Owner/Operator.

About RMHC Scholarships

RMHC Scholarship Programs are designed to provide financial assistance to eligible graduating high school seniors who face limited access to educational and career opportunities. Scholarships are awarded by local Chapters of Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC), with support from RMHC Global and McDonald’s Corporation.

RMHC of Greater Las Vegas has been offering scholarships to local students since 1999. Since then, our Chapter has awarded more than$2.84 million in scholarships to more than 1,200 students.

RMHC of Greater Las Vegas also partners with local organizations to offer additional scholarship opportunities that are unique to our Chapter. These partner scholarships can be found on the application, and may require additional supporting documents and/or eligibility criteria.

All complete applications submitted by students in Clark and Nye counties in Nevada are personally reviewed and selected by members of the RMHC of Greater Las Vegas Scholarship committee. Decisions are based on academic achievement, financial need, personal and career goals, and community involvement. RMHC of Greater Las Vegas does not select recipients based on ethnicity.

Funding for RMHC Scholarships

McDonald's Owner/Operators of Greater Las Vegas help support the RMHC of Greater Las Vegas Scholarship Program by contributing a portion of every Las Vegas Review-Journal newspaper sold in participating McDonald's restaurants. Since 2002, more than $1.3 million in newspaper contributions have been donated to the Program. In 2011 alone, McDonald's newspaper contributions totaled more than $165,000.

Additionally, McDonald's Owner/Operators of Greater Las Vegas created a special one-day fundraising event in which $1 from every Extra Value Meal purchased at participating McDonald's restaurants is donated to the scholarship fund. The event, called Green for Grads this year, is held in April and has raised more than $100,000 for the Program since it began in 2011.

Each year, RMHC, Inc. contributes $62,250 in match funds to the RMHC of Greater Las Vegas Scholarship Program for scholarships awarded through our chapter. Partner scholarships are offered by various community organizations in an effort to offer a wider scope of scholarship opportunities to RMHC applicants. The following partners contributed more than $40,000 towards the 2013 Program:

• 100 Black Men of Las Vegas
• Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.
• Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
• The Links Inc., Las Vegas Chapter

• Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.
• Through The Eyes of a
   Child Foundation
• United Firefighters Assoc.
   of Southern NV

Together, RMHC of Greater Las Vegas, RMHC, Inc., McDonald's Owner|Operators of Greater Las Vegas and community partners are approaching a total of $3 million in scholarships to local high school seniors since the program began.

Thank You!
